Catholic bishops expected

Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of
Priests for Life, announced today that plans for the National
Memorial for the Preborn and their Mothers and Fathers are
progressing very well and generating a lot of attention and
interest.
The interdenominational event is the premier
prayer event marking the 40th year since Roe vs. Wade and will
be held on the morning of the March for Life, Friday, January
25, at DAR Constitution Hall, 1776 D St., NW (18th and D St),
from 8:30 to 10:30am.
“Leaders from dozens of
denominations will be present, including Catholic bishops,” said
Fr. Pavone. “For Catholics, this reflects the Church’s full
commitment to authentic Christian unity. Such efforts are
reflected especially well in the pro-life movement. As Pope John
Paul II wrote in The Gospel of Life, ‘No single person or group
has a monopoly on the defense and promotion of life. These are
everyone's task and responsibility.’ (n. 91).”
Prior to
the start of the interdenominational service, there will be a
Mass for the convenience of Catholics attending the event. The
Mass will be held at the same location, Constitution Hall, at
7:30am.
Noteworthy is the fact that on the same day as
the prayer service, which is also the concluding day of the
annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Pope Benedict XVI
will be holding an interdenominational service in Rome as an
official event of the Church’s “Year of Faith.”
